In 2002 Minetta Brook and the Whitney Museum showed several
films projected onto the Holland Tunnel vantilation building.
This is a photograph taken during the
showing of a film by Richard Serra entitled "Railroad Turnbridge"
What I didn't notice when I took the shot were the pylons in
the right foreground which had been carved by someone
into mini totem poles. This photograph has a companion in the AE-1 section
of this web site entitled "Erection" The city in the
background of this photograph is Jersy City. Directly behind this vent building,
on the other side of the river, is a mirror-image vent building which I have
